03/22/2014 - 150th Shamokin Anniversary Committee
To our valued Shamokin Area Alumni:
Your city of Shamokin is having its 150th anniversary on July 5th of 2014 – and the Fifth Ward parade committee along with the City of Shamokin parade committee is planning a party to rival the centennial celebration of 1964.
The entire downtown will be blocked off and Independence Street will be lined with food vendors, music, and activities from morning until the fireworks explode over the downtown skies at 9:30 P.M. In addition - a parade will begin on Shamokin St. at 2:00 P.M.- the likes that have not been seen for 25 years.
We sincerely wish that the Shamokin Area Alumni (whether near or far) will gather back in Shamokin to watch an exciting parade and take part in all the downtown festivities.
To finance the parade and downtown entertainment – the Fifth Ward parade committee is raffling off a 2014 Camaro convertible – valued at approx.. $37,000. The winner will be drawn at 10:00 A.M. on July 5 ,2014 and will also be the “ Grand Marshall “ of the parade.
The raffle tickets are $10.00 each and can be purchased from parade committee members, at participating businesses (look for our poster), and at the Mother Cabrini church and parish office.
Our out-of town Alumni can purchase tickets by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope along with a check payable to “The Fifth Ward Parade Committee” to the following address:
49 E. Independence St.
Shamokin, PA 17872
Donations will be gratefully accepted and can be sent by check payable to “The 150th Anniversary Committee“ at the same above address.
Lastly –the Alumni can help us “get the word out“ by mentioning this event to friends, neighbors, and relatives – especially those living away.
For more information – contact Tony Polek at 570-492-1837 or 570-644 -0630 or by E-Mail at email@example.com. Questions can also be directed to our Facebook page.
