The Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) is a federal law enacted to help protect students when they access the internet at school. CIPA requires schools and libraries that receive federal E-rate funding to put measures in place that block or filter harmful online content. The goal is to ensure students are not exposed to material that is obscene, harmful, or inappropriate for minors.
You can learn more about CIPA on the FCC's official CIPA page.
Our school is committed to creating a safe digital learning environment. To comply with CIPA, we use Securly, a web filtering and online safety platform designed specifically for schools.
Securly helps us:
Filter inappropriate content on all school devices, both on and off campus.
Monitor online activity to detect signs of cyberbullying, self-harm, and other safety concerns.
Provide parents with visibility into their child’s online activity (if enabled).
Ensure student privacy while meeting all federal compliance standards.
Securly works behind the scenes to block websites and content categories that violate CIPA, such as explicit material, violence, and illegal activity, while still allowing access to valuable educational resources.
By using Securly, our school fulfills the requirements of CIPA and gives students a safer, more focused environment for learning.
