MORP DANCE

Posted Date: 03/27/26 (07:17 AM)

The Middle School will be hosting a MORP dance for 7th and 8th grade students on SATURDAY, May 2, 2026, from 7-10 PM in the Shamokin Area Middle/High School Cafeteria.

The cost is TEN dollars ($10) per student. Food and drinks will be served! Tickets are being sold starting Monday, April 20th through Friday, May 1st. Students can purchase tickets from Miss Hashuga in room A143. No tickets will be sold at the door. No refunds will be issued once tickets have been purchased.  Students must enter the dance with the ticket assigned to them at purchase.

Transportation to and from the school the night of the dance is the responsibility of parents and guardians. Student drop-off will be on the stadium side of the Middle/High School Building– with the entrance being the North End Cafeteria doors. Parents are asked to arrive no later than 10pm to pick their students up in the same area. Only students who are currently enrolled in 7th and 8th grade at Shamokin Area Middle School are permitted to attend. Any student who leaves the dance before 10 PM will not be permitted to reenter.

The MORP dance is a privilege for students. In order for students to attend they must have:
  • No suspensions during this school year (2025-2026).
  • No more than 13 unexcused absences.
  • No bullying issues / cafeteria issues / constant discipline issues in the classroom.
  • Cannot be failing more than one class.

Students who attend will be expected to abide by school rules and display appropriate social behavior. Students who choose to act inappropriately will be asked to leave the dance, and may be subject to disciplinary action as outlined in the student handbook.

Since this is a formal dance, casual dress, including jeans, shorts, t-shirts, or other casual attire, is not permitted. If students do not wish to dress in traditional formal attire, former dress code apparel (such as khakis and polos) is permitted. Students arriving in inappropriate attire will be turned away.

Any questions can be directed to Miss Hashuga by emailing mhashuga@indians.k12.pa.us
The word MORP is displayed in glowing, colorful letters against a dark background with scattered confetti.
